One of the largest reclining Buddha of Chaukhtatgyi and the significant of Shwedagon Pagoda with unique history and the legends in Yangon; the world's largest ringing bell of Mingun and the world's largest book of Kuthodaw in Mandalay; the archaeological importance of the heritages of Bagan; the uniqueness of the floating gardens and leg rowers of Lake Inle and the wildlife sanctuaries and biodiversity of colonial era Fort Hertz of Putao are the highlights for a great deal of discovery in Myanmar.
Day 1 Arrival Yangon
Arrive at Yangon International Airport. Meet and assist at the airport and transfer to the Hotel. Free at leisure in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Yangon.
Day 2 Yangon - Bagan
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Bagan. Arrive Bagan and check-in at the Hotel. Sightseeing around the great plains of Bagan includes the Anada temple of four huge standing Buddha images and numerous figures in niches around the galleried interior; the golden stupa of Shwezigone Pagoda built by King Anawrahta; the Thatbyinnyu known as ‘temple of omniscience’; and the Dhammayangyi, the most massive temple famous for its interlocking brickwork.Highlights of the day also include the famous lacquerware works of Bagan. Observe the sunset in the vicinity of one of Bagan's ancient monuments and experience the horse cart ride in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Bagan.
Day 3 Bagan
Enjoy the beautiful sunrise of Bagan with an early morning start. Return to the Hotel for breakfast. Visit the Tayokepyay temple and Min Nan Thu village to observe the village life and the traditional methods of extracting ground-nut oil; Phaya Thonezu and Nanda-pyin-nya Temples noted for exquisite murals of the 13th century; and the colourful Nyaung Oo Market with varieties of local produce. A short break in the afternoon and continue to Myinkaba area. Highlights include Gubyaukgyi Temple with its fine stucco work; Nanpaya Temple, built in the Mon style with intricate stone carvings; Manuha temple with gigantic Buddha images, a captive king's impression of life in prison. Enjoy sunset boat trip on the river Ayeyarwaddy for beautiful sunset over Bagan. Overnight at a Hotel in Bagan.
Day 4 Bagan - Heho - Inle
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Heho. Arrive Heho and continue to Nyaung Shwe by car and proceed to Inle by boat. Observe the floating gardens and Inn Thar style, unique one legged method of fishing along the way. Overnight at a Hotel in Lake Inle.
Day 5 Inle
Breakfast at the Hotel. Explore one of the fifth day markets (on market day of every fifth day shifting in the area) where some ethnic tribes in the region gather to buy, sell or exchange their home grown produce. Highlights of excursion by boat on Inle Lake also includes Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most sacred shrine in the southern Shan States; the weaving village of Impawkhon; blacksmith, cheroot making and other traditional handicrafts workshops at Nan Pan village; the famous "Nge Phe Chaung" monastery with beautiful collection of antique Buddha statues. Overnight at a Hotel in Lake Inle.
Day 6 Inle - Heho - Mandalay
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Nyaung Shwe by boat and continue to Heho Airport by car for domestic flight to Mandalay. Arrive Mandalay and continue for sightseeing in Manadalay. Highlights include the world's largest book of Kuthodaw Pagoda with its 729 marble stone stabs of Buddhist scriptures; the Mahamuni Pagoda, revered as one of the holiest pagodas in Myanmar; the Golden Palace (Shwe Kyaung) monastery, the beautiful teak monastery famous for its intricate wood carvings; and workshops of traditional gold-leaf making and embroidery works. Visit Shwe Kyin Monastery at sunset and observe the evening prayers. Overnight at a Hotel in Mandalay.
Day 7 Mandalay - Putao
Breakfast at the Hotel. At leisure till transfer to the airport for flight to Putao. Arrive Putao and transfer from airport to the Putao Trekking House. After a brief break, walk through the trails of flat valley of Putao and explore this frontier town of the jumping-off point for trekkers to the region’s deep forests, wildlife sanctuaries and snow-capped mountains in the eastern Himalayas. Dinner and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
Day 8 Excursion to Machanbaw and Namkham
Early in the morning, visit interesting Putao market with local ethnic tribes by walking (approx. 10 min). Return to the Hotel. After breakfast, depart by jeep on the pebbled road to Naungkhine (20 km, approx. 1 hour). Walk cross suspension bridge span across Malikha river to Machanbaw, a small colonial style town and walk up to the so-called stone dragon park which should take about 30 minutes. Later take a local fishermen boat for a 40-min up- river journey along Malikha river to Namkham, a large Rawan village, situates at the bottom of Namhti mountain range which in rich with biodiversity of flora and fauna. After a lunch break, explore the village lifestyle and continue travel by boat upriver (about 20 minutes) to the site of famous Kanugmulon Pagoda. Crossover the river at Htawadum and take the jeep back to Putao (14 km, approx. 1 hour). Dinner and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
Day 9 Walking / Biking Tour to Mudon
Breakfast at the Hotel. At leisure in the morning and visit one of the local orphanage schools. After a lunch break, proceed walking/biking to Paneling Hkamti Shan village and visit unique Mahamuni Image and other attractions. Continue the walk to Putaung Shan village, Gyinyankan Lisu village and to Malawagy village through paddy field and gardens enjoying the countryside of snow-capped Mountains far in the horizon. Return to Putao through Lonsut village (total walking hour: approx. 3-5 hours). Dinner and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
Day 10 Rafting at the pristine lower Malikha River
Breakfast at the Hotel. Depart by jeep to Mulashidi village (13 km, approx 20 minutes) through well paved road and explore this unique Lisu village. Commence the exciting combination of rafting and cruise adventure along the clear and fast flowing waters of Mula River. At the confluence of Mula and Malikha rivers, continue to downstream onto the Malikha river passing through the forested hills and white river beaches. Pack lunch will be served by the spectacular riverside beach. A short break for leisure to swim, read and write. Sail upriver to Machanbaw and return by jeep to Putao. Dinner and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
Day 11 Walking / Biking Tour to Hopaing
Breakfast at the Hotel. Commence the walking/biking excursion to Lonsut village through vast paddy fields and across Namhtun creek. Continue to walk through bamboo grove to Hopaing Shan village, visit beautiful Buddhist Monastery and explore village lifestyle of Shan people. Optional visit to some of the Lisu villages on the way back (total walking hour: approx. 3-5 hours). Dinner and overnight at Putao Trekking House.
Day 12 Putao - Mandalay
Breakfast at the Hotel. At leisure in the morning and lunch at the Hotel. Explore local market of Putao for some last minute shopping before transfer to the airport for domestic flight to Mandalay. Arrive Mandalay and transfer from airport to the Hotel. Overnight at a Hotel in Mandalay.
Day 13 Mandalay - Mingun - Yangon
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the jetty for a private boat trip on the Ayeyarwaddy River to Mingun. Visit the Mingun Bell, weighing 87 tons and being the world's largest intact bronze bell, the beautiful Hsinbyume Paya (also known as Myatheintan Pagoda) and the unfinished Mingun Paya (built with the intention of being the world's biggest pagoda). Sail back to Mandalay. Transfer to airport for domestic flight to Yangon in the late afternoon. Arrive Yangon and transfer to the Hotel. Visit Shwedagon Pagoda with its amazing mix of pavilions, stupas, images and bells in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Yangon.
Day 14 Yangon Departure
Breakfast at the Hotel. Explore the colonial architecture of downtown Yangon; the Karaweik Royal Barge on the peaceful Royal Lake; the enormous reclining Buddha of Chaukhtatgyi; and the sprawling Bogyoke Aung San Market (SCOTT Market) with its abundance of stalls selling gems & jewellery, lacquareware, wood carvings, silverware, paintings & other handicraft for some last minute shopping. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for international departure.
