Chin Hill Tribes & Mt. Victoria Trek 4 Days / 3 Nights

Expedition to Mount Victoria in Southern Chin State of Myanmar features the combination of nature walk, safari drive and soft adventure trekking to explore and observe the rare species of birds and butterflies, flora and fauna of the area, traditional way of life of Chin minorities living across the vast planes of the Chin Hills. 

This off the beaten track extension from Bagan for 4 Days / 3 Nights is recommended only during the dry season from November to April. The challenges and restrictions due to the weather conditions, infrastructure of the road, and availability of electricity and choice of accommodation be considered for.


Day 1         Bagan - Chauk - Seikphyu - Mindat

An early breakfast at the Hotel and begin the expedition by jeep to Chauk. Cross the Ayeyarwaddy River via Chauk Bridge to Seikphyu village and continue driving in the dry zone for about 8 hour-drive to the district town of Mindat, which is located on 4,860 feet above sea level in Southern Chin State. Overnight at Mountain Oasis Resort II in Mindat.


Day 2         Mindat

Breakfast at the Hotel. Excursion to Pang Oo village by walking on a steep slope outside of Mindat. Explore the culture and traditional believes of the hill tribes at the Chin State, which is sparsely populated and remains one of the least developed areas of the country. Return to Mindat in the afternoon and continue visit the nearby villages with spectacular scenery of the high-lands. Overnight at Mountain Oasis Resort II in Mindat.


Day 3         Mindat - Mt. Victoria - Kampelet

Breakfast at the Hotel. Drive up to the upper base camp of Mt. Victoria in the morning and begin hiking to the summit of the Mt. Victoria, which is the highest peak in Chin State and the second highest peak in Myanmar. This footpath through the Mt. Victoria National Park (Nat Ma Taung) is a little steep but truly rewarding to observe the natural watercourses, which flow among mountain ranges and valleys; hill evergreen forest; wildlife mammals and the rare species of birds and butterflies; and the Rhododendrons in full bloom. Return to the upper base camp and drive down to the old town of Kampelet in the afternoon. Overnight at Mountain Oasis Resort I in Kampelet.


Day 4         Kampelet

Breakfast at the Hotel. Trekking to the Chin villages around Kampelet in the morning. Chin hill tribes such as Ngara, Yin Du, Dai, Okpu, Magan and or some tattooed-faces women with different dialects and different costumes to be observed. Continue the treks from one village to another for about one to one and a half hour to explore their lifestyle and the unique traditional and religious believes of the area. Overnight at Mountain Oasis Resort I in Kampelet.


Day 5         Kampelet - Bagan

Breakfast at the Hotel. Drive back to Bagan for about 7 hour-journey from Kanpalet via Saw, an amazing town amidst the green valley. This mountainous road takes uphill and down through deep teak forests to the dry zone. Working elephant camps are for a distance far off-road. Proceed to Chauk, a small town famous for oil fields. Cross the Chauk bridge over Ayeyarawaddy River and continue driving to Bagan. Arrive Bagan in the late afternoon. At leisure in the evening. Overnight at a hotel in Bagan.
