An outstanding example of traditional art & architecture and the evidence of religious devotion of one of Myanmar’s many ethnic minorities, the Pa O can be witnessed by the visit to the hidden treasure of Kekku.
The Kekku Pagoda Festival falls on the full moon of the lunar month of Tabaung and attracts thousands of visitors from all parts of the Shan State and especially Pa-O people in their finest traditional costumes.
Breakfast at the Hotel. Proceed to Nyaung Shwe by boat and drive up through pine-clad hills to Taunggyi, the capital of Southern Shan State and a former British hill station. Discover the hidden treasure and long lost ruins of Kekku pagoda complex which was believed to be built on the site some 2,000 years ago. Visit a Pa O village nearby and a huge local monastery on the way back to Taunggyi. En route, stop by at Ayetharyar Vineyard, the production of one of the top-quality Myanmar wines in the Shan mountains. Arrive Nyaung Shwe and transfer by boat to the Hotel.
