Mystical Myanmar presents the archaeologically important cities of Myanmar and Lake Inle of southern Shan State inhabited by Inthas and many different tribes of the region for 11 days expedition.
Commence the journey by domestic flight to Sittwe, the port city of Rakhine State and the stopping point for Mrauk-U. Sail along the Kaladan River for upriver boat trip towards Mrauk U the next day and explore the city of oriental splendor in the 14th to 17th century. Visit Chin villages of tattooed-faces ladies and discover their lifestyle on a day trip. Return to Yangon and continue to Bagan to observe and explore the ancient temples and great ruins of the 11th to 13th century. Enjoy horse cart ride passing through the plains of Bagan in the late afternoon.
Continue to Heho for Lake Inle and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and scenery of southern Shan State. Discover the lifestyle of the Inthas and its unique way of fishing and farming the floating gardens on the Inle Lake. Travel back to Yangon for onwards international departure.
Day 1 Arrival Yangon
Arrive at Yangon International Airport. Meet and assist at the airport and transfer to the Hotel. Free at leisure in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Yangon.
Day 2 Yangon - Sittwe
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Sittwe. Arrive Sittwe in the early afternoon. Half day sightseeing in Sittwe features visit to the Payagyi Temple; a Buddhist Museum with interesting collection of Rakhine-style Buddha images and silver coins from the Mrauk Oo era; photo stops at some of the Mosques, the evidence of the large Muslim community in Sittwe; The Point, waterfront at the mouth of Kaladan River for sunset and fabulous views over a black sand beach; and a stroll around downtown Sittwe. Overnight at a Hotel in Sittwe.
Day 3 Sittwe - Mrauk Oo
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to the jetty and take a private boat to sail up the Kaladan river for up to 6-hour journey. Upon arrival in Mrauk Oo, transfer to the Hotel for check–in. Half day tour to the places of interest in Mrauk Oo includes the most famous Shittaung Pagoda with some 80,000 Buddha images, a maze and it's fascinating interior passages; Andaw Pagoda, an eight sided monument with the linear passage; Dukkanthein, the ordination hall which resembles like a huge bunker from the outside. Enjoy the beautiful sunset from atop Haritaung Pagoda hill. Overnight at a Hotel in Mrauk Oo.
Day 4 Marauk Oo
Breakfast at the Hotel. Full day excursion in Mrauk Oo features the stone images and ruined temples of Ko Thaung; the old palace site and the remains of the ancient city walls and gateways; the Mahabandola Monastery with its collection of ancient bronze Buddha images and Rakhine-style Buddha images; Laungbankpyauk Pagoda, locally known as "plate pagoda" of bright colours tiles embedded on its front wall; the typical Rakhine villages and its solid wooden houses, canals, hills and friendly people. Observe the city view of Mrauk Oo and beautiful sunset from atop the Shwetaung Hill.
Day 5 Mrauk U - Chin Villages - Mrauk Oo
Breakfast at hotel. Visit Mrauk Oo’s main market in the morning and continue to Lay Myo river bank for a two and a half hour boat ride to the Chin area. Proceed on foot to visit Chin villages of tattooed-faces ladies. Discover the local lifestyle and waving project at the Chin villages. Return back by boat to Mrauk Oo. At leisure in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Mrauk Oo.
Day 6 Mrauk Oo - Sittwe - Yangon
An early breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to the jetty for departure by private boat back to Sittwe. Enjoy the changing scenery along the Kaladan river on downriver journey towards the sea and Island surrounding Sittwe. Arrive Sittwe and visit Sittwe's main market, where fisherfolk, town and rural people come to buy and sell fish and general supplies. Proceed to Sittwe airport for domestic flight to Yangon. At leisure in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Yangon.
Day 7 Yangon - Bagan
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Bagan. Arrive Bagan and check-in at the Hotel. Sightseeing around the great plains of Bagan includes the Anada temple of four huge standing Buddha images and numerous figures in niches around the galleried interior; the golden stupa of Shwezigone Pagoda built by King Anawrahta; the Thatbyinnyu known as ‘temple of omniscience’; and the Dhammayangyi, the most massive temple famous for its interlocking brickwork.Highlights of the day also include the famous lacquerware works of Bagan. Observe the sunset in the vicinity of one of Bagan's ancient monuments and experience the horse cart ride in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Bagan.
Day 8 Bagan
Enjoy the beautiful sunrise of Bagan with an early morning start. Return to the Hotel for breakfast. Visit the Tayokepyay temple and Min Nan Thu village to observe the village life and the traditional methods of extracting ground-nut oil; Phaya Thonezu and Nanda-pyin-nya Temples noted for exquisite murals of the 13th century; and the colourful Nyaung Oo Market with varieties of local produce. A short break in the afternoon and continue to Myinkaba area. Highlights include Gubyaukgyi Temple with its fine stucco work; Nanpaya Temple, built in the Mon style with intricate stone carvings; Manuha temple with gigantic Buddha images, a captive king's impression of life in prison. Enjoy sunset boat trip on the river Ayeyarwaddy for beautiful sunset over Bagan. Overnight at a Hotel in Bagan.
Day 9 Bagan - Heho - Inle
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to airport for flight to Heho. Arrive Heho and continue to Nyaung Shwe by road and proceed to Inle by boat. Observe the floating gardens and Inn Thar style, unique one legged method of fishing along the way. Overnight at a Hotel in Lake Inle.
Day 10 Inle
Breakfast at the Hotel. Explore one of the fifth day markets (on market day of every fifth day shifting in the area) where some ethnic tribes in the region gather to buy, sell or exchange their home grown produce. Highlights of excursion by boat on Inle Lake also includes Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the most sacred shrine in the southern Shan States; the weaving village of Impawkhon; blacksmith, cheroot making and other traditional handicrafts workshops at Nan Pan village; the famous "Nge Phe Chaung" monastery with beautiful collection of antique Buddha statues. Overnight at a Hotel in Lake Inle.
Day 11 Inle - Heho - Yangon
Breakfast at the Hotel. Transfer to Nyaung Shwe by boat and continue to Heho Airport by road for domestic flight to Yangon. Arrive Yangon and transfer to the Hotel. Visit Shwedagon Pagoda with its amazing mix of pavilions, stupas, images and bells in the evening. Overnight at a Hotel in Yangon.
Day 12 Departure Yangon
Breakfast at the Hotel. Explore the colonial architecture of downtown Yangon; the Karaweik Royal Barge on the peaceful Royal Lake; the enormous reclining Buddha of Chaukhtatgyi; and the sprawling Bogyoke Aung San Market (SCOTT Market) with its abundance of stalls selling gems & jewellery, lacquareware, wood carvings, silverware, paintings & other handicraft for some last minute shopping. Transfer to Yangon International Airport for international departure.
